The Universal Declaration of the
Rights of Senior Citizens to Access Information Technology

WHEREAS the youth of today have abandoned their elders by the side of the information superhighway;
WHEREAS society-wide ageism is being manifested by minimal information technology support for senior citizens;
WHEREAS many societies consist of ageing populations;
WHEREAS information technology continues to be adopted at an exponential rate by governments, private enterprises and every entity in between;
WHEREAS this information technology adoption is occurring increasingly to the exclusion of traditional client-relation interfaces;
WHEREAS the quality of life of senior citizens is now materially prejudiced by computer illiteracy;
IT IS DECLARED BY THE SIGNATORIES HERETO THAT:
Article 1:
Every senior citizen shall have access to information technology;
Article 2:
Every senior citizen shall have access to basic and affordable information technology training;
Article 3:
Balance between the opinions of the young, the aged and everybody in between shall be achieved in the blogosphere;
Article 4:
That each State shall establish and maintain its own publically funded National Seniors Information Technology Call Centre to assist senior citizens in their adoption of information technology.
Article 5:
Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein.
